Haz Mat

DOT Definition of hazardous material:

“A hazardous material is defined as any substance or material that could adversely affect the safety of the public, handlers or carriers during transportation.”

EPA Definition of hazardous waste:

“Hazardous waste is waste that is dangerous or potentially harmful to our health or the environment. Hazardous wastes can be liquids, solids, gases, or sludge. They can be discarded commercial products, like cleaning fluids or pesticides, or the by-products of manufacturing processes.”

Environmental concerns regarding hazardous waste and its treatment were addressed when the Federal Clean Water Act became law in 1972. Wash water produced at cleaning sites ranging from factory floors to oil stained parking lots require preventative measures. The EPA, as well as state, county and municipal agencies now regulate how this water is treated and disposed. Regulations now cover storm sewer discharge as well. Regardless of their size, companies are now held accountable for recovery, storage and disposal of waste water in an approved manner. These additional liabilities make the recovery of environmentally impacted wash water an increasingly important aspect in the total environmental responsibility of companies and agencies.

When performing complex cleaning tasks our equipment eliminates splash so we don’t contaminate surrounding areas.
